PSG vs Man City Champions League Betting Tips
20th January 2025
When two giant clubs play each other in the Champions League, it’s always a huge game. Well, this has almost a knockout game feel about it, as it’s almost must win for both clubs, but it’s definitely MUST NOT LOSE.
With just two group games remaining, as it stands, PSG won’t even make the playoffs, and City hovering just one point above them, could really do with all three points too. PSG travel to Stuttgart in their final game which is no gimme, so they really need to take something from this game or they might miss out on the knockout stages of the Champions League. City host Club Brugge in their final game, so you’d have to fancy them to win that game, but a defeat in Paris would leave them sweating.
Match Betting Odds
(Please note all odds are correct at time of publishing)
PSG 7/5 (Ladbrokes)
Draw 11/4 (Coral)
Man City 7/4 (BetFred)
As expected, the odds are very tight, with PSG being slight favourites being the home team. They do lead the French Ligue 1 table by 9 clear points, having won 14 and drawn 4 of their 18 games.
City went on the worst run they have been on for 18 years recently, but seem to have come out of that slump now. We think we can tentatively say that now. They won 2-0 at Leicester, battered West Ham 4-1 and crushed Salford 8-0 in the FA Cup. However, they then threw away a two goal lead at Brentford to draw 2-2, but destroyed Ipswich 6-0 on Sunday.
The PSG of last season with Mbappe were much stronger, but City were clearly much stronger too. Both clubs will know that a point is a decent result, meaning if they win their last game, they make the playoffs. Both sides will be desperate to win, but even more desperate to not lose. It could lead to an edgy, close game.
If you really want a winner, we’d lean towards City because we do think they have a better team. But we think the draw is the most likely outcome here.

As we said above, we think both sides will be trying to avoid defeat. We can see a 1-1 draw here, so a small bet on that is advised at 13/2 with (BetFred).
First Goalscorer (Selected) (All BetFred)
Erling Haaland 7/2
Goncalo Ramos 5/1
Randal Kolo Muani 6/1
Bradley Barcola 6/1
Ousmane Dembele 7/1
Phil Foden 7/1
Savinho 9/1
Kevin de Bruyne 10/1
Jeremy Doku 12/1
Josko Gvardiol 20/1
2We aren’t obsessed with this BetFred offer, but it’s always worth a reminder every time we choose this market. Their offer is a great one:
“Double Delight and Hat-trick Heaven” offer: “If your pre-match First Goalscorer bet scores 1st and then scores a 2nd, we’ll DOUBLE the odds. If they score a third we’ll TREBLE them.”
After going through the toughest spell of his City career, Haaland is a man back in form with 4 goals in his last 4 games. If anyone can help us take advantage of this BetFred offer, it’s surely this man.
Gvardiol has shown an eye for goal this season and could be a decent outside bet, especially on a night where set pieces could be vital.
Team News
Has there ever been a greater impact on a team missing a player than on Man City missing Rodri? He helped City to another title last season, helped Spain to the Euros in the summer and helped himself to the Ballon d’Or…. But probably the greatest example of his influence and ability is when he is missing from the Man City team, because they rarely lose with him in it, and have had some horrific form with him out of it.
He misses this game, of course and almost certainly the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament tear.
Ruben Dias was back on Sunday, ahead of schedule which is a big boost to the Cityzens. John Stones remains out.
PSG have no injury concerns but will not be able to field new signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia until the knockout stages – should PSG make them – due to UEFA rules on registering players.
